Idol Thoughts: Carly No More....

I was a little upset at the vote last night as Carly heads home after last years struggles with her Visa and returning this year. Ending in the Top 6 is bitter sweet, but we'll hear from her again.
This upcoming week is Vocal Coach Neil Diamond...lots of tunes to pick from and I can't wait to see what David Cooke does....let me know what songs you would like to hear by clicking 'Comment' below.

We'll mention them in tomorrow's podcast...

thanks,
JP

I would love to hear Brooke attempt "Forever In Blue Jeans"! That would be funny!

And, maybe Jason, or Sayesha, should try to go with "America", just to ensure some patriotic votes.

And wouldn't it be cool to see what David Cooke could do with "Sweet Caroline"? I could almost see a very haunting version of it!

Well I think if someone were to sing "I'm a Believer" it would probably be Brooke or Jason because they seem to do a lot of the more well known songs.
Also you mention that when more people watch the show then it can throw off fan bases but I also think that when someone gets voted off, THAT can change fan bases too because that contestant's fans will start voting for someone else. For example Carli's fans might have liked her rock vibe which would make them vote for David Cook or maybe they likes her soulful vocal performances which might make them vote for Syesha.

I'd like to see something different. I'd like to NOT see the standard popular Neil Diamond tracks, but "sing me something I don't know instead of everything he sings" - to paraphrase the great Mary Chapin Carpenter.

First off, I would like to tell you what a great job you are doing with your podcast. i love tuning in.
As for last week's performances and elimination, I think a few things are being overlooked. It seemed to me like ALL the contestants were having an off week. Four out of six people flubbed their lines and Syesha was off beat when she came in. The poor musicians were like, "You are coming in now?! That wasn't planned!" Brooke, I think, was smart and knew that Lord Andrew would want the words right. Almost all of them had some problems with their performance.
As for elimination, I figured it would be something like that. At this point in the competition people are voting for the excellent and the people they want to see more of while "good" performances get forgotten.
Whether you like Jason Castro or not there is no denying the melting of hearts in his wake. People thought Brooke would be in a spot of trouble so they voted extra for her. Leaving Syesha and Carly...
My question is a follows: Did the fact that Carly sang Jesus Christ Superstar have anything to do with it? Many people I know have been irked by so many religious references this season on Idol. So maybe that's something that got overlooked.
Also, has anyone else noticed that one week a girl will leave then next a boy? It always seems to be even....interesting...
